CANADA 3000 Airlines Marks its Tenth

A decade of service

CANADA 3000 Airlines was established in 1988 to operate passenger air services based on the needs of the leisure traveler. A private company owned 100 percent by Resource Funding of Calgary, Alberta, it employs 1,250 staff across the system.

Headquartered adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, CANADA 3000 also has airport bases in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Halifax, and St. John’s. Utilizing the very latest in communications technology, CANADA 3000 monitors every aircraft in the fleet from its Operations Centre, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, wherever they are in the world.

Since its inauguration, the company has dedicated itself to excellence in passenger service, both in the air and on the ground. Its Airport Services division assists passengers in a courteous and efficient manner from check-in to boarding. While on board, friendly and experienced cabin crews welcome every passenger and ensure a comfortable journey. Inflight service reputation is second-to-none, with specially prepared menus, a complimentary selection of fine wines and award-winning inflight entertainment.

CANADA 3000 operates the most modern fleet of aircraft in Canada, consisting of nine Boeing 757-200 aircraft powered by fuel efficient Rolls Royce engines, and six state-of-the-art Airbus A320 aircraft.

In April 1998, CANADA 3000 took delivery of two Airbus A330-200 aircraft. This 340-seat, long-range aircraft is the first of its kind in North America with a direct operating range of 5,500 nautical miles, or the ability to fly from Vancouver to Athens, non-stop.

Enviable on-time performance owes as much to these fine aircraft as to the experienced engineering and operations staff. In every aspect of our aircraft maintenance program, engineering standards excel. Engineering staff is responsible for rigorous preventative maintenance that keeps the fleet in top flight condition - clean, polished and efficient for safe and worry-free travel.

The familiar red and gold livery has become a well recognized sight in many countries, with routes expanded across North America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and beyond. In the 1997 fiscal year, CANADA3000 Airlines will have carried more than two million passengers to the following destinations: Alaska, California, Florida, Mexico, Arizona, Canada, France, The Netherlands, Australia, Caribbean, Germany, Nevada, Belgium, Costa Rica, Hawaii, United Kingdom, Bermuda, Fiji and Ireland.

In Canada alone, CANADA 3000 will carry more than 700,000 passengers between 12 major Canadian city centers: St. John’s; Halifax; Monkton; Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg; Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver and Whitehorse.

But it’s not all business. Every December for the past ten years, CANADA 3000 Airlines’ employees and management organize the annual “Search for Santa” Christmas Flight. In cooperation with the Children’s Wish Foundation and the Scott Mission, CANADA 3000 and its supplier partners host more than 200 children and their families to a one-hour flight in “Search of Santa”, followed by a Christmas party, musical entertainment and a Christmas gift for each child.

CANADA 3000 staff volunteer to dress as popular cartoon and movie characters for the children’s enjoyment, making this a highly memorable evening. This event takes place in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Did You Know about Charter Airlines?

Every two weeks, all the Canada 3000 jets are hand-washed and every two months they are hand-polished. The floor carpet is changed every nine weeks, and the average aircraft tire lasts for 230 landings before being changed—that’s like a new set of tires on each airplane every two months.

Travelwise Online editor’s note: My love affair with airline travel began over 40 years ago. In that time I’ve flown with every major Canadian airline and on just about every type of commercial aircraft. Before the airline company went out of business, Canada 3000 combined the best of everything that completely satisfied this weary world traveler.
