Africa Travel Guide
The Dark Continent
There are a few guarantees in Africa: smiles, fires and contrast.
While Africa struggles as a tourist hot-spot, its rich heritage, colorful animals and dynamic cultural clashes mark it as land like no other - and one we think is worth exploring. Step off the plane and you'll be totally immersed in this ancient land. The second-largest continent in the world, Africa encompasses a vast and vibrant tapestry of history and is a testament to our ability to survive in any conditions.
Africa contains a mosaic of places to visit, each with its unique flavor and charm. It's difficult to summarize Africa into a few lines because each country offers something different to challenge your sense of adventure. We've picked three countries to whet your appetite for Africa, but to truly experience adventure, you'll have to go there yourself.
- Tunisia - Bordering the Mediterranean Sea, Islamic architecture mingles with archaeological sites and energetic, colorful marketplaces. Miles of beaches drape around the coast like a seductive wrap. The list of attractions in this tiny North African country fills volumes. Picture Roman-era hot springs and monuments, famed underground dwellings, and lagoons that rival any spa.
- Kenya - Anyone who dreams of Africa dreams of a Kenyan safari. A land of legends and folklore, tribes decked out in colorful clothing, and spectacular scenery, Kenya's beauty will live on in your mind long after you return home. The ideal spot for a safari or a mountain climb, Kenya never ceases to amaze, thrill and teach. One place to visit before you die - though you do run the risk of believing you've already made it to paradise.
- Morocco - Morocco conjures images as hot and steamy as the red earth cliffs of Tafraoute towering above the lush green palm trees. You can almost smell the spice in the air as you smooth your finger over the map and allow names like Tangier, Casablanca and Marrakesh roll off your tongue. These cities of legends hurl you back through time and assault your senses as the bright orange sun dips lower, casting everything in a hue of bluish pink.
