Sydney Australia Tourism - Sydney Sights & Activities

Discovering the wonderful world of Oz

Modern transportation systems, clean streets and high-tech attractions make Sydney a gold-standard tour. With Victorian architecture, parks and streets lined with mature trees, and a long-standing tradition for hospitality, you won't want to leave.

  • Taronga Zoo - Perched on a hill overlooking Sydney, this is one of the most beautiful zoos in the world. Since the zoo itself is on a steep slope, take the shuttle to the top and tour the zoo from the summit down. While you'll see animals from around the globe, the native wildlife steals the show. Get your photo taken with a koala, feed the 'roos and maybe even catch a glimpse of a shy platypus.
  • Sydney Aquarium - You'll think you walked right into the ocean with the world's largest Great Barrier Reef exhibit, little penguin colony and floor-to-ceiling aquariums. Sharks, sea turtles and sting rays swim overhead as you walk through a Plexiglas tunnel. There's even a touch pool, where you can pat a star fish and stroke coral.
  • Bondi Beach - This trendy section of Sydney is alive with surfers, boogie board enthusiasts and sunbathers. Grab a cappuccino and take the self-guided walking tour from Bondi to Bronte.
  • Sydney Opera House - Despite the name, you can see anything here from contemporary dance to stand-up comics. With five performance venues under its impressive sails, there's always a variety of entertainment options. Even if you don't have time for a show, the building itself is worth a tour.
  • Sydney Harbour Bride - While anyone can walk or drive across this engineering wonder, are you brave enough to climb to the summit or explore its inner workings? Trained guides can lead you to panoramic views of the city high above the harbor or take you through the catwalks that have only recently been opened to the public.
  • Ghost Tour - If heights don't scare you, maybe ghosts will. Grab a lantern and learn about the often shadowy history of Sydney. Costumed guides will take you back in time as you visit famous haunts and hear spine-tingling tales of lost souls.
