Disney Cruise Lines - Disney Cruise Information

Cruising made magical

These ships have been described as 'floating theme parks', and like their landlocked counterparts, Disney Cruise Line does it right. More expensive than the competition, Disney targets their cruise to Disney lovers, and every aspect of the cruise is permeated with some aspect of this entertainment giant. If your main goal is to explore the ports of call, other cruise lines will take you there for less, but if you want to be fully immersed in all things Disney, then this is the ultimate experience.

Passenger Profile

While the majority of passengers are families, Disney lovers of all ages come aboard. For many, this is their first cruise on any line, and there's an air of excitement that won't be found on ships that cater to repeat customers.

Staterooms

With the majority of passengers traveling as families, even the smallest rooms sleep at least 3 or 4 and have both a tub and shower. While you can have meals delivered to your room at no extra charge, few will chose to opt out of dining in one of the opulent Disney-themed restaurants.

Dining

With rotation dining, you'll eat at a different Disney-themed restaurant each night. And yes, they have an adult-only restaurant for romantic meals.

Onboard Highlights

  • Activities - Kid-friendly and family-oriented, all activities have a Disney theme. For kids, age-specific activities will delight, entertain and involve your youngster. Teens-only activities will keep adolescents from being bored or feeling like they're being treated like a kid. Nursery services for infants and toddlers allow parents to enjoy the spa services.
  • Nightlife - With family-oriented entertainment, you won't find the casinos and discos that make other lines so sexy. Tamer night clubs and lounges are toned-down substitutes that might leave childless passengers disappointed. The outstanding floor shows more than make up for this omission. You can also watch first-run movies and Disney classics on the big screen.
  • Theme Cruises - While Disney Magic is Art Deco and Disney Wonder is Art-Nouveau, they offer the same entertainment, activities and food. And let's face it, with Disney, the entire ship is a theme cruise.

Shore Excursions

All cruises stop in Nassau where you can spend the day at Castaway Bay, Disney's 15-acre private island. Here you can snorkel, bike, sail and more. Dozens of other shore excursions await - so many, in fact, that you can search by activity, age or activity level. All excursions are family-friendly and safe for the youngest participant.

Need to know

  • Dress Code - Unlike most cruises, formal nights are optional. While you can always choose to dress up for a meal, the only dress code enforced is the cruise casual attire which means no shorts, tanks or swimsuits.
  • Tipping - While all gratuities can be charged to your room, the website offers tipping suggestions. Note that 15 percent is added to bar, beverage and deck service tabs automatically.
  • Smoking - Smoking is not permitted in staterooms, but is allowed on open decks (except near the Mickey Pool), stateroom verandas and in other specifically designated indoor areas. Currently, these areas include the sports bar and piano lounge.
  • Internet - Although Internet access isn't available in the rooms, you can e-mail or surf the web from PCs at the Internet Café or use your wireless laptop at designated locations.
